Depending on whom you ask, what makes a creatine supplement great will differ from person to person. Everyone has their own view on the criteria for a great creatine supplement and these views are shaped by your goals and your experience in the fitness game. However, there are a few criteria that I believe everyone will agree with me on. The criteria for a great creatine supplement are:
- The creatine is from a reputable company. We want a trustworthy company that has stood the test of time and provides only top quality supplements. Many creatine companies will try to sell creatine that is loaded with fillers and impurities in order to cut costs. This is the last thing we want from our creatine. We want our creatine as pure as possible.
- It needs to be effective. The fact of the matter is that some people simply don’t respond to creatine. The majority of people do benefit from the explosive energy, muscle size, and strength that creatine facilitates. However, there are people who will not respond. This is often dependent on the type of creatine. For example, around 20% of people who take creatine monohydrate (the most common form) will be non-responders.
- The creatine needs to be relatively free from side effects. The theory is that it may be more water soluble than the standard creatine monohydrate and thus more effective. However, scientific studies into this claim are lacking.
Despite the lack of scientific studies (which is more an indication of a lack of studies generally with anything other than creatine monohydrate), creatine hydrochloride is almost 40x more soluble than creatine monohydrate. This means that for maximum absorption of 5g of creatine, you would only need 10ml of water when taking creatine hydrochloride as opposed to 625ml of water when taking creatine monohydrate. This means that as well as creatine hydrochloride potentially being the more effective form of creatine, you are also drastically less likely to experience side effects.

- No side effects! That was the case for me at least. You might still experience some side effects like cramping and bloating. After all, this is still creatine and side effects are common with creatine. But I can tell you one thing: after you’ve experienced creatine monohydrate, you will be blown away by how good you feel taking CON-CRET creatine. I didn’t get any discomfort at all and I’m not alone in this. If you take a look at some of the other CON-CRET Creatine reviews, you’ll see that many of the happy customers are primarily impressed with the lack of side effects.
- Unflavored really does mean unflavored. Mix it in with your pre-workout or your post-workout shake and you will not taste this creatine at all. As for the other flavors, they’re all delicious with some being better than others depending on your tastes. I personally like Blue Raspberry and Fruit Punch.
- Super small dosage! This is one of the most awesome things about this creatine. The scoop that comes with it is extremely small. I don’t believe in loading creatine but many people do and will take ridiculously high amounts of creatine monohydrate for a week that will make them feel bloated and ill. But creatine loading isn’t even a thing with Con-Cret. For this, it gets a big thumbs up from me.
- CON-CRET is effective. I wouldn’t necessarily say that it was massively better than creatine monohydrate but I would say there was a small improvement. With normal creatine monohydrate, it takes a few days for me to feel the strength benefits and for my muscles to fill out more. But my muscles felt bigger and I felt stronger from the first day of dosing with CON-CRET.
- It’s good value for money. Can you get other creatine supplements for half the price? Sure, but the chances are you will have to suffer through the side effects. For me, it is well worth paying extra to have a supplement that doesn’t ruin your day by giving you lots of stomach pain.
- I’m going to have to put the price here as a con even though I put it above as a benefit. I personally feel like CON-CRET delivers enough value to be worth the price tag but many of the negative CON-CRET Creatine HCL reviews focus on the price as being outrageous. The problem many people seem to have is that for almost double the price of a standard creatine monohydrate, you’re not getting a super obvious improvement. I guess these people are cool with the side effects that creatine monohydrate delivers or they’re the lucky ones who don’t get them.
- The taste. Personally I like the taste although I haven’t tasted all of the flavors.
